CHALLENGE
Securing intravenous catheters, tubing, and dressings requires a tape that is durable and conforms to body contours. Ideally, tape should adhere to wet, oily, or hairy skin, yet be gentle to the skin. Patients who are receiving long term infusion therapy or chemotherapy are especially in need of a tape that will not traumatize the skin. Elderly, immunosuppressed, and dehydrated patients who receive IV therapy are highly susceptible to bacterial invasion through microscopic fissures in the skin. This may, in turn, increase the risk of skin breakdown, phlebitis, sepsis, and trauma from adhesives.

Hy-Tape®, "The Original Pink Tape®," is a clinically proven cost-effective solution for securing intravenous catheters, tubing and dressings. Its gentle adhesive helps to reduce the potential for skin damage. Hy-Tape® is particularly beneficial in humid environments, on sites with drainage, and for patients with excessive perspiration or diaphoresis. Hy-Tape® can be applied to wet, oily, or hairy skin and conforms well to body contours. If the tape becomes soiled, it can be washed, yet it remains intact without adhesive meltdown or residue. Additionally, Hy-Tape® is easy to handle with gloves.

Hy-Tape®'s zinc oxide adhesive is soothing to delicate skin and allows the tape to be removed easily. IV dressings can be secured with a picture frame of Hy-Tape® which provides a barrier to fluids when used over a gauze dressing.
